Annual Business Meeting & Networking Event

During the 2016 event, attendees were asked "What is the one thing that IIABNJ can do to make your more successful." After evaluating the feedback from our agents who attended the event, we wanted to share with you exactly what the association was doing, or will be doing in the future, to meet those needs. Click here for the response.

Insurance is a Marathon
Guest Speaker - Matt Jones, three time cancer survivor, marathoner, and motivational speaker - sponsored by UPC
Being an insurance agent, much like running a marathon, is an endurance event. In order to achieve victory and cross the finish line, you must stay energized, push through the wall of adversity, and persevere until the end. Through Matt Jones's experiences overcoming major adversity and insurmountable odds, you will be inspired and learn strategies to achieve greater victory in insurance by developing your 'Marathon Mentality' and crossing your individual finish line.

Matt will share the number one factor to staying motivated, how to overcome the biggest challenge you will ever face, and how to keep or regain your passion for sales.

Cutting Edge/Emerging Insurance Issues - sponsored by Nationwide
Speaker - Steve Lyon, CPCU, CIC, CRM, AAI, ARM, AIS, CRIS, Lyons Consulting
3 CE Credits
This educational seminar will cover the hottest topics trending in insurance today, including:

Autonomous Vehicles - To date, self-driving vehicles have logged over 700,000 miles accident-free. But, how will these vehicles respond to bicyclists, jaywalkers, stop signs, motorists waving them on with hand signals, right on red turns, snow storms, fog, and other unforeseen circumstances. If 93% of motor vehicle accidents are due to human fault, what will happen to the auto industry in the future as loss ratios dive toward zero? Who will be liable in the event of an accident if there is no driver? How do autonomous vehicles handle ethical decisions?

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) AKA: Drones - Explore all the questions you may have concerning drones, and more. Is there a drone in your insured's future? Are they considered aircrafts? Can they be legally operated according to FAA rules and regs? Is there liability coverage if you insure someone with a drone? Do invasion of privacy issues apply? Can homeowner policies cover drones for pleasure use? How does the ISO Commercial property policy treat drones?

Ride Sharing/Car Sharing (Uber/Lyft/Airpooler/Hubber/Airb2b) - These popular software applications are wreaking havoc on the insurance industry and personal lines coverage forms, and are jeopardizing coverage for passengers and transportation network providers. ISO and carriers are trying to keep up with the technology, but are lagging behind. A handful of carriers are taking progressive approaches and have developed endorsements to permit such usages under the Personal Auto Policy, but for a cost. Millions of people are using these apps to their detriment, they just don't know it. How do the personal auto, homeowner, and umbrella policies provide or preclude coverage for these popular smart phone apps? What can your insureds do to protect themselves, if anything? Also discussed will be the contracts these companies make you sign and the insurance impact that creates.

Nanotechnology - According to A.M. Best, of all the technology risks now emerging, nanotechnology product exposures may be the most similar to asbestos in that inhaling carbon nanotubes could be as harmful as breathing asbestos. The unusual properties that make nanoscale materials attractive may pose unexpected risk that could take years or even decades to surface. Most policies in existence today do not contain a “Nano” exclusion, therefore providing Workers Compensation, Products Liability, Directors & Officers coverage, with very uncertain future results. The NAIC explains that the expanding use of Nanotechnology in industry and consumer products may be the most important, yet most ignored, emerging issue facing P&C insurers today.
